Usage

Once a SAP gateway is installed and running it will automatically start listening on a TCP for each SAP device the gateway has access to.

The normal scenario where a SAP gateway will be used is when a user wants to communicate with a meter using metering software to configure the meter, retrieve information or collect data. To do this the metering software requires the local IP address and TCP port that correspond to the specific meter. The user can find this information from the SAP web site.

Once this local TCP end-point is obtained, the user can use the metering software as normal. The mapping between a local TCP end-point and a specific ISA device will normally not change over time. Note, however, that gateway will be automatically updated from SAP to reflect any relevant changes the Meter Operator makes in SAP (e.g. adding new ISAs, removing access to meters etc).
